1. What is an ATM/Debit Card ?

What is an ATM card ?

ATM card is a proprietory card of Andhra Bank and can be used on ATMs for doing transactions on our Bank ATMs and shared banks ATMs. This cannot be used for purchases at Merchant Establishments

What is a Debit Card?

A debit card is a card that has direct access to your Bank account. The card is just like a money purse in cardholder pocket. Debit card reduces the risk of carrying cash. The debit card can be used for purchases at Merchant Establishments.

The issuance of ATM/Debit cards has been revised since March 2009. The system of issuing ATM/Debit card with cardholder’s name and photo has been dispensed with and replaced by non-personalised cards i.e. cards without name and photo.

A welcome kit containing a non personalized card with PIN is being provided across the counter on request immediately after opening of the account.

2. Salient features of ATM Card / Debit Card

The ATM Cards can be used round-the-clock, all 365 days a year, at any Andhra Bank ATM, spread across the length & breadth of the country!

The card can be used for the following functions on the ATM

  • Balance enquiry

  • PIN change

  • Withdrawal of cash

  • Individual Cards for Joint Account holders!
    Freedom of living!!

  • Balance enquiry: Can know the balance of any of the Card-linked accounts, at any time of the day!
    Data on fingertips!!

  • Mini Statement of Account: Can get a printout of the last TEN transactions, of any of the Card-linked accounts, during online authorization.
    Reconciliation made convenient!!

  • Up to a maximum of 10 Accounts, spread even across 10 Branches at 10 different towns, which can be operated by the cardholder can be linked to a single ATM Card and cash can be withdrawn from any of the linked account!
    Greatness of Any-Where-Any-Branch Banking!!

  • Can transfer funds from one linked account of the Card to another, of the same Card, at any time of the day!

Salient features on Debit Card

Debit card issued by our Bank is in association with VISA and governed by the rules and regulations of Visa. This card has the emblem of VISA ELECTRON

This Debit Card is Globally valid and for electronic use only. The Debit card can be used for drawal of cash through all ATMs and for making purchases at merchant locations. Debit cards can not be used on internet (except for booking railway tickets or any other feature introduced by the Bank in future ), mail order transactions, transactions at merchant establishments where EDC terminals are not available.

Some of the additional features of debit card :

  • Global validity - Can withdraw cash and enquire balance from over EIGHT LAKH VISA ATMs, spread across 150+ countries, the world over!
    Money purse, with currency of choice!!

  • Can purchase goods at over TWELVE LAKH Merchant Establishments, globally, with on-line authorization of transactions!

    Please note that the transactions at merchant establishments will be debited to the PRIMARY account of the cardholder only.

3. Eligibility

Any individual having rights to operate any of the eligible accounts (Eg: Savings Bank / Current Account) and fulfilling the other criteria prescribed by the Bank, from time to time are eligible for applying for ATM/ Debit Card.

Minors, illiterates, visually impaired persons, other handicapped persons who can not operate an ATM and Mandate/Power of attorney holders are not eligible for issue of ATM/Debit Card.

Accounts operated jointly with minors as joint depositors, proprietary and Partnership accounts, Company Accounts, Trust accounts etc are not eligible.

4. Fee, Charges / Transaction Fee

There is no admission fee. The card is valid upto 5 years from the month of issue. First year the card will be issued free of cost. From second year onwards there will a nominal amount of Rs.75/- debited to the A/C.

5. Drawal limits

As a measure of safety per day card limits are fixed as under:
For increasing of limits, Debit cardholders are requested to contact the branch where they are maintaining the account.

At the time of transaction , if the branch, where the account is maintained, is functioning then it is called On line transaction. If the branch is not functioning then it is called as Off line transaction.

6. Maintenance charges on ATM/DEBIT CARDS & Other Transaction Charges:

ATM/DEBIT CARDS annual maintenance charges Rs.75/- on all ATM/Debit Cards as Annual Maintenance fees at the start of 2nd year.

Using the card abroad

  • The usage of debit card abroad is governed by the extant exchange control regulations of RBI

  • The transactions will be routed depending on the functionality of the particular ATM/POS machine as per the practice in some of the countries. You may have to enquire with the merchant about the usage.

7.DOs and DONTs

· Please change the PIN number as and when received by you first time.

· Never choose a pin number corresponding to your birth date, vehicle number.

· Memorize you PIN.

· Do not write pin number on the card.

· Whenever card is used at merchant location , please ensure to swipe the card in your presence.

· Do not leave the card lying around the house or on your desk at work.

· Upon loss of card intimate immediately to the Branch where account is maintained and to the toll free number 1800 425 2910.

· Never give the card to a third party for ATM operations.

· Obtain and preserve chargeslip copies from the merchants for purchase and cancellation of transactions and reconcile the same through your account.

· Do not keep card and pin number together.

· Preserve the customer receipts of ATM transactions and reconcile your account.

· Do not part with Pin number to any body at any time.

8. Guidelines for ATM operation

  1. Andhra Bank ATMs accept Andhra Bank ATM Card, Debit Card and Credit Cards.Besides, any VISA & Master Cards as well as Cards belonging to Banks with whom ATM Network Sharing arrangement is in place are also accepted.

  2. To operate at ATM, one should have a valid Card and PIN (Personal Identification Number)

  3. Insert the Card at the ATM in the slot meant for the same, correctly. (The face of the Card should be upside; the left side of the Card - i.e., the side where the number starts - should be inserted)

  4. Enter the correct PIN. If using for the first time, enter the PIN provided in the PIN Mailer

  5. Enter the type of transaction

  6. Choose the type of account

  7. If withdrawing money, enter the amount of cash to be withdrawn

  8. If more than one account under the same type were linked to the Card, choose the account from which you want to withdraw, by typing the serial number as displayed on the monitor, like, 1 or 2 or 3. (This facility is currently available for only Andhra Bank ATM & Debit Cardholders)

  9. If transferring funds from one linked account to another, choose the account from which you want to transfer, like, 1 or 2 or 3 and choose the account to which the amount has to be credited, besides entering the amount to be transferred.

  10. For Balance Enquiry, if more than one account were linked to the Card, under the same account type, then choose the account serial number as displayed on the monitor

  11. While donating through e-Hundi, select the account type, account serial and enter carefully the amount to be transferred (once transferred to e-Hundi, the amount cannot be reclaimed)

  12. While donating to Trusts, select the Trust to which you want to donate. For the facilities eligible for such donations, contact the Trust directly, with the particulars of donations

  13. For e-Seva transactions, select the type of utility for which you have registered and make payment according to the regulations of the service provider

  14. For Utility Services payment, if you have registered for more than one service, select the one for which you want to make payment and effect payment according to the regulations of the service provider

Additional information

All the ATMs of Andhra Bank are networked and hence, the Bank’s Cardholders can avail of the service at any ATM of choice & convenience.

ATM/Debit cards are issued with a validity period of FIVE years. Cardholder can approach the branch before expiry of the card and obtain renewal card in case of debit card.

Any individual, holding Savings or Current group of account and having rights to operate the account in his/her individual capacity, is eligible for ATM or Debit Card.

An individual can have either an ATM Card or a Debit Card; but, not both. An existing ATM Cardholder can request for Debit Card, at the time of renewal or even, in lieu of the ATM Card, by surrendering the same.

Additional account of the Cardholder, at any of the Switch-linked Branches, can be linked to the Card; the Cardholder should have the right to operate such account in his/her individual capacity. It is a facility of immense value. For example, a busy professional, working at Chandigarh, has a joint account with his wife, at Chandigarh and his family is at Pondicherry; the moment the salary is credited, his wife can withdraw from Pondicherry! He can be rest assured that the Bank takes care of his family’s financial requirements.

Five accounts each under Savings and Current account types can be linked to a Card, thus allowing linking of a maximum of 10 accounts, across a maximum of 10 different Branches. The Cardholder has the choice of operating any of the linked accounts. Besides, funds can be transferred from one Card-lined account to another, of the same Card. This is a feature of unparalleled convenience. For example, a father in Delhi can transfer funds to the joint account held along with his daughter, studying in Trivandrum, just in a few seconds! Similarly, a son working in Mumbai can remit money to his Mother, in a matter of seconds!!

Andhra Bank VISA Electron International Debit Card is a great boon for persons who want to spend within their means and also for others who are either not able to obtain or are not eligible for Credit Cards. It features the convenience offered by Credit Cards - withdrawing cash from any VISA ATM/Balance Enquiry/Payment for and enables the Cardholder to organize spending.

Donations to e-Hundi or TTD Trusts cannot be reversed. No need of registration. Any Andhra Bank ATM/Debit Cardholders can effect the donations, at Andhra Bank ATMs.

The Credit Cardholders of Andhra Bank can pay the dues through Andhra Bank ATM or Debit Card, at the ATM. Registration for the service has to be done at the ATM/Debit Card-issue Branch.

Payments made to e-Seva Water & Electricity bills are accounted directly by the Department Servers, as on the date of transactions. Amount paid cannot be reversed. Registration for the service has to be done at the ATM/Debit Card-issue Branch.

Any Service Provider - Telephones/Cell Service providers/Electricity Boards/ Municipalities/Educational institutions/etc. - can register with Andhra Bank, for payment of their dues, by their consumers, through Andhra Bank ATMs. The ATM/Debit Cardholders can register for paying the bills of such service providers. The Bill will be presented on the ATM, when the Cardholder wanted to pay for it and based on the instructions of the Service Provider, either partial payment or excess payment or only full payment will be allowed.

For Debit Card transactions on other VISA ATMs, charges shall be according to VISA regulations.

Charges for transacting at the shared ATM shall be according to the agreements with the partner Banks and Bank’s own policies, from time-to-time.
