  What is this UPI?
UPI is a channel that enables linking of multiple bank accounts into a single mobile app. UPI brings the awesome idea of “Virtual Payment Address” (ex. XXXX@andb),a virtual identity like an email address, name, phone no etc. UPI facilitates ‘virtual address’ as a payment identifier for sending and collecting money between any two parties without knowing the recipient’s name, bank account number and IFSC code.
 
  How is UPI different from IMPS?
UPI is providing additional benefits to IMPS in the following ways.
  • P2P (Person to Person) Pull functionality
  • Simplifies Merchant Payments
  • Single app for Money Transfer
  • Single click two factor authentication.
 
  Does the customer need to register before remitting funds using UPI?


Yes, customer needs to register and link his account.

 
 Does the customer need to register a beneficiary before transferring funds through UPI?

Yes. Registration of beneficiary is required before doing transactions.

 
  What is a Virtual Address?

UPI brings this awesome idea of “Virtual Payment Address” (Which looks something like ‘abc@andhrabank’). UPI facilitates ‘Virtual Address’ as a payment identifier for sending and collecting money between any two parties without knowing the recipient’s name, bank account number and IFSC code.

 
  Will I be able to use across all platforms?

Available for Android ( version 4 & above) & IPhone Users

 
  What Details are required for Registration?

Only Mobile Number which should be registered with Bank.

 
 How Accounts with other bank will be linked?
User needs to select Bank and accounts will be listed which is linked to the mobile number registered in UPI.
 
  Can I link more than one bank account to the same virtual address?
No. Virtual address will be unique for all accounts so every account will have a different virtual address.
 
 
 How validation happens for the linked accounts?
User needs to activate the account by entering debit card last six digits and expiry date. User needs to set UPI PIN as the 2FA and same is validated with OTP.
 
  What happens if I forgot UPI PIN?

User can regenerate UPI PIN through Forgot UPI PIN option under Account Management .

 
  What is scan & pay option?
User can scan QR code and make payment. User can also generate their own QR code through UPI App and receive payment.
 
  What Details of beneficiary will be required?
For adding beneficiary either Account number /IFSC , Virtual address or Aadhaar number is required.
 
  What is the limit of fund transfer using UPI?
The upper limit per Bank/Mobile is Rs 1,00,000/- for transactions every 24 Hrs. Per day limit is Rs 2,00,000. Maximum 20 transactions in a day.
 
  Will I be able to use UPI after changing my SIM or mobile?
In case of change of sim/mobile, users’ needs to re-register.
 
  In case my mobile is used by other person, will there be any security breach?
UPI PIN is required for any transaction making it safe and secure.
 
  What is the timeline to approve a collect request by a payer?
The timeline to approve a collect request needs to be defined by the requester.
 
  Does a customer need to have a bank account or can this be linked to a card or wallet?
No customer cannot link a wallet to UPI, only bank account can be added.
 
  Can I use more than one UPI application on the same mobile if they are linked to different bank accounts?
Yes, One can use more than one UPI application on the same mobile and link both same as well as different accounts.
 
  Does the beneficiary also have to register for UPI for receiving funds?
In case of Virtual ID transaction, the beneficiary needs to have a Virtual ID and in turn be registered with UPI but in case of Account +IFSC or Mobile+MMID, Aadhaar number, the beneficiary need not be registered for UPI
 
  What happens if my mobile phone is lost?
In case of mobile loss, one needs to simply block his mobile number thus no transaction can be initiated from the same mobile number which is a part of device tracking and at the same time MPIN would be required for any transaction which is not to be shared with anyone.
 
  What if my account is debited but the transaction does not go through?
UPI provides for real time reversals for technical declines and the amount would be transferred back to the payer account immediately
 
  Can I put a stop payment request for funds transferred by UPI?
No, once the payment is initiated, it cannot be stopped.
 
  Where do I register a complaint with reference to the UPI transaction?
You can raise your grievance or check status of UPI transactions through the UPI App of the participating banks.
